Poly Sale, Pots Orders, Gearing Up

Poly Sale

The poly sale went very well this year. Thanks to everyone who ordered! If you missed your window to order and receive the substantial summer discount, don’t worry – we’re extending the sale through the month of August. Orders placed before August 31, 2019 will be at the following prices (Price/MSF = Price per 1,000 sq ft):

Pots Orders

We’ve received most of the pots for next year. If you still have some items you’re interested in getting but haven’t contacted us, we’re still taking orders, especially for specialty items. Regarding nursery pots – there has been a substantial price increase due to the volatility of the nursery container market and the abrupt changes in international trade tariffs that has affected our suppliers. Thus, nursery pots will need to be quoted on a case-by-case basis.

On that note, we have begun discussing a distribution deal with Root Maker for nursery pots and bags. Founded by an Iowa State University alum, they have been developing the best pots for increasing root branching in the industry since 2000. Their pots are made in the USA and are excellent for starting most seedlings. They are especially good for establishing strong healthy roots in young trees. If you’re interested in getting pricing on any of their items, please let me know as soon as possible.

On a similar note, I am curious to know if anyone is interested in going in on a large order of Winstrip Trays. They don’t do wholesale distribution, so we wouldn’t be marking it up other than to cover the costs of shipping and a little for our time. These trays are extremely durable and I highly recommend them for starts you plan to plant elsewhere, i.e., in the ground, or in a larger container. They will last several years with normal wear and tear. If you’re interested let me know. If there is sufficient interest to make a decent-sized order, then we’ll have them shipped to Beautiful Land Products, and then they can be shipped to you or picked up.

Gearing Up for Our Production Season

We’re gearing up for the upcoming production season, and the first truckloads of raw materials will soon be on their way! On that note, we are looking for one or two dedicated, capable workers for the production season. If you’re in the Johnson / Cedar County area and you’ve got a stellar employee this season whom you cannot afford to employ through the winter, be sure and tell them about us! We’re always looking for people who have farm / greenhouse experience to join our production team, because they work hard and understand the value and importance of high quality soil. We can be contacted via email or at 319-643-5550.

That’s all for this month! Here’s wishing you a productive and fruitful harvest season! Till next month!

Best,
Phil Ricks
