Coronavirus and BLP – Business as UNusual

We are here for you.

It goes without saying that the coronavirus has disrupted most of our daily lives and left us all with a perilous amount of uncertainty. We here at BLP want you to know that we are here for you in these trying times.

Below are some of the changes to our usual mode of business that we’ve been forced to make in light of the circumstances. We will carry out the following changes for at least one week, or until the curve is flattened. These are subject to change and you will be notified of any changes as they are made:

  • Our General Manager, Phil Ricks, will be working from home whenever possible – feel free to call his mobile phone for service: 319-321-3373
    Or email at blp@beautifullandproducts.com
  • Orders taken on one business day will require an extra day to process. Our plan is to take as many orders as we can on, say, Monday, and then go into BLP and fill all of them on Tuesday, then take orders again on Wednesday, fill those orders on Thursday, and so forth. In this time we ask for your patience as our response time may not be as quick as usual.
  • Pick-ups will be will-call and by appointment only. We will do our very best to limit in-person contact so as to reduce everyone’s risk of exposure. This one makes me sad, because I love talking with folks when they come in, but it seems wise given the circumstances.
  • We are still able to ship products to you by parcel or truck, and will notify you immediately if that changes.
  • We strongly recommend check payments; or if using a card, that payment be made over the phone rather than in person. We hope that by passing around less cash and credit/debit cards, we will reduce the probability of further spreading the virus.
  • We will continue to be available by email, and will respond to emails and calls as quickly as we can.

Below are some of the things we’ve already been doing the last few weeks to help slow the spread of this pandemic:

  • Cleaning and sanitizing frequently used surfaces such as doorknobs and phones after each use
  • Washing hands early and often and oh so thoroughly
  • Limiting in-person contact with vendors, customers, and shippers
  • Following all CDC and WHO protocols for prevention, and keeping ourselves updated for changes
  • Following recommendations of federal, state, and local public health professionals, and keeping ourselves updated for changes

We are in a unique situation in that there is almost never more than three to five people at our location; however, we want to make sure that no one who grows food or flowers for people is at risk because we were foolhardy or reckless. Please feel free to contact us with any questions.

Last, on this the first day of SPRING, may your heart be warmed by the increasing light of the sun; may you and yours be safe and well; may your plants grow with vigor and strength, completing the circuit between the earth – where the roots reach deeply into the dark – and the sky – where the leaves stretch ever toward the light of the comsos. Be well, friends.
