Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best way to order from Beautiful Land Products?

The best way to order from Beautiful Land Products is by email to blp@beautifullandproducts.com. You can fill out this order form and send it in an email, or simply list the items desired in the body of your email. You can also call the office at 319-643-5550 with any questions. We will need to correspond with you a little bit about shipping or appointments for will-call, because shipping rates vary depending on quantities desired.

Do you make custom potting mixes?

Yes, we do. There are some caveats, however. Custom potting mixes need to be purchased on a per-batch basis rather than per-bag. We will want to communicate about the mix prior to ordering to ensure proper soil conductivity and cation exchange, and to talk about desired quantities and qualities.

Can I come inside and shop?

If you plan to stop by, we strongly prefer that you make an appointment, or at least let us know you are coming. To be honest, we are not really set up as a storefront. We are more of a wholesale supplier than a retailer. We have a very small staff and are often found packing and filling orders, loading and unloading trucks, and as always, making our artisan batches of potting soil. That said, we are always happy to meet with clients. To make your experience as smooth as possible, we can pre-pack your order for will-call so you don’t have to wait while we fill your order.

How can I access the Catalog?

To acquire a password for the online Catalog or to request a hard copy, please call 319-643-5550 or email us at blp@beautifullandproducts.com.

How big are your growing media bags? How many bags come to a pallet? Do you ship partial and/or mixed pallets?

We manufacture germination and growing media in 3 cubic foot bags. 36 bags come on a standard pallet. We do ship partial pallets; however, shipping is calculated on a per-pallet basis, so less than 36 bags shipped on a pallet will increase the per-unit cost. We also ship customized pallets that combine one or two mixes on the same pallet (e.g., 24 bags of BLP#12 and 12 bags of BLP#11).

We also make retail potting soil in 8 quart, 20 quart, and 40 quart bags. The number of bags per pallet depends on the bag size. 8 quart pallets have 150 bags per pallet; 20 quart pallets have 100 bags per pallet; and 40 quart pallets have 50 bags per pallet.

How far does Beautiful Land Products ship?

We ship frequently all throughout Iowa and the immediately surrounding states: Minnesota, Illinois, Missourri, Nebraska. We can ship as far as New York or California as well; however, shipping costs on soil increase significantly the further the shipment has to travel. You can always call 319-643-5550 or email blp@beautifullandproducts.com for shipping quotes. Please have your shipping address ready.

I grow organically. Will your organic mixes pass my certifier?

Yes. We work with a number of organic certifiers throughout Iowa and the Midwest, as well as national certifiers. We keep meticulous records of our ingredients, processes, and up-to-date OMRI certifications for the OMRI-certified ingredients, and we keep process letters for the remaining organic ingredients. We combine those into a packet once per year that we keep on file for certifiers. You can always send any certifying agent our way if that agent has questions about our products that you cannot answer. We have a long history of working with IDALS, MOSA, and many other organic certifiers.
